Matthew's Last Week & Day at Day Care

Yes, I pulled the trigger and I quit my job at Investure. Yesterday was my last day and I am now officially a stay-at-home MOM plus some part time work on the side. Investure could not have been nicer to me leaving and their understanding was amazing. I was truly blessed and lucky to have worked for a wonderful company. Hopefully I can come back to help them again someday. It was sad to leave as I loved everyone I worked with, but at the same time I am excited to be here for Matthew and see his development. I think for a while it will just feel like vacation as Ryan is home with us until after the new year. We are looking forward to Matthew's first Christmas and New Years! Matthew's 4 Month Birthday

Matthew is 4 Months Old TODAY! :) He weighed 16 lbs 10 oz and was around 24 inches and still a big head:). He is in the 95 percentile for everything!

Wow, time has flown by and I do not know how any mom works full time and takes care of their kids. I am more than ready to just be a full time mom only. In time, hopefully God will guide us in the right direction. Wow, how I miss my baby boy everyday I am at work and I end up having to go to bed at 8pm with him so that I can get the rest I need as well. Matthew still wakes every 4 hrs. at average. Two weeks ago I got a couple 6 hr stretches and that is a rarety. Every now and then he may have a bad night, but for the most part he is usually a good sleeper. I enjoy every moment I am with him and just wish I could have more time with him now. He is growing so fast and loves to smile and starts to giggle and interact with you. Within the last week or so he has started grabbing things. Just last week he went to the doctor twice; once for a cold which was bad it got into his eye and then the second time we went, he had an ear infection in his right ear. He is now on amoxicillin for 10 days and tylenol as needed. I felt so bad for him, when he doesn't feel well he cries for no apparent reason and doesn't eat or sleep well. I of course feel so bad when i cannot do anything. Hopefully he will start to feel better again soon.

1st Week after Day Care.

UVA Game Weekend

Saturday it rained until the game ended with UVA loosing to GaTech. Matthew was a trooper and we both still attended despite the weather. That evening the three of us headed over to the Platt's to hang out and get dinner. Owen and Matthew hung with the dad's while Suzanne and I left to go eat a quick dinner and bring Andy and Ryan some back. Oh and yes, that was my first time leaving Matthew other than to get the mail which really doesn't count. :)

Today we tried to sleep in and around noon Ryan met with his friend Dave to play tennis. Matthew and I got ready quickly and then took a walk with Abby to the tennis courts to watch dad. Then the 4 of us ran some errands and went to church. We just had dinner at home and are relaxing from the nice weekend. As next weekend we have a very busy Halloween weekend with parties and the UVA/Duke game.

I am prepared to hopefully enjoy this last week of no working! I so am not ready to go back, but I must. At least there are some holidays coming up I can look forward to. I will miss my baby sooo much!

This Week

What has happened this week. Well Matthew is smiling and talking more. I know within this next month he could learn to roll over. He has started drooling which means possible teething :( Tonight we will be going to dinner at Bonefish which will be his third trip there; thank you Mimi we all love Bonefish. This past Tuesday, we all visited a day care Matthew finally got called for from the 9 wait-lists he was on. He is still on 8 as we are going to try this one. I have to go back to work on the 2nd of November which is when he will start his first day. He is not the best with the bottle yet, so we will see how it goes; he loves mom I cannot help it :). However, I think it will be a million times harder for me to separate from him than him from me. I just do not want to miss any of his firsts in his development. I know everything is in God's hands and hopefully one day soon, I will be able to stay home with him and get my dream job of a stay-at-home mom.

For the first time, Matthew will get some alone time with dad, as thanks to my mom, I will be getting a much needed massage. Next Saturday Morning I will be pampered while Matthew has fun with Dad.

We love being Parents as Matthew is such a wonderful baby boy! Thank you God for such a miracle and beautiful blessing you bestowed on us!

The last couple weekends...

Uncle Kyle came to visit us on Thursday, the 8th of October. He came in town for UVAs homecoming weekend and attended the Indiana game with us where UVA won and put up 47 points. Matthew enjoyed hanging with Uncle Kyle that weekend. Monday, Kyle flew with me and Matthew to Austin to visit Mimi and Aunt Kendra. Yes, this was Matthew's first plane ride. He even got a gift certificate signed by the captain and flight attendant, which is going in his baby book! He was a very good boy on both flights down to Austin. The first flight he was excited and enjoyed it when Uncle Kyle held him. The second leg was 3 hrs and he slept the whole time.

Kyle did have to work this week, so it was nice for Matthew to have hung out with him over the last weekend. So, most of Matthew's time was spent with Mimi and Aunt Kendra. Mimi had professional pictures taken the first day we were there and this week, Matthew really started talking, smiling and having more fun. He loves Mimi's house and her ceiling fans. That Wednesday the 14th he had his first experience in Mimi's pool with me and Aunt Kendra. He really seemed to enjoy himself and loves being outside. He thanks Mimi for the swing and playard she bought him along with all the blankets outfits etc. The swing was portable, so he got to swing outside on the porch. Now, he has some stuff at Mimi's for when he goes back to hang out. He hopes to visit again in the next few months. We both enjoyed our visit!

While he was there he also got to meet his Great Uncle Bill (Mimi's brother) and Great Aunt Linda (Mimi's sister-in-law) He loved meeting them and enjoyed it when Aunt Linda sang to him too. Mimi and Aunt Linda sang to him some spanish songs.

Our last full day we meant Kyle after his work day at the Austin trail which goes around the city. It is so nice it reminds me of central park only the trail is not around a park but rather the beautiful Austin Downtown. My mom donated money to help the upkeep of the trail, and inturn she was able to get a brick in our names.

Matthew did amazing on his trip and was such a wonderful baby while visiting Mimi's. We truly had a fabulous time and it was so nice to see my sis, bro and mom!

We did of course miss Daddy and want was excited to see him; hopefully next time he can make the trip with us. Matthew had fun and was happy to see Dad too when we returned. Hope you enjoy all our photos.

Matthew's 1st trip to North Carolina

Matthew got to attend the UNC vs UVA game and UVA actually did pull a win; UVA won 16 to 3. Matthew also was able to stay and see where Papa and Grandma live. Abby of course made this trip as well! Matthew was able to meet Ryan's good friends, Meredith, Randy, Skylar, and Renee. Skylar loved meeting Matthew. She asked if he could talk; very cute:) At the UNC game, a little Tar Heel boy asked if Matthew could walk. Kids are so cute! Below are a few photos from the time in NC.

Matthew at 2 Months

He weighed in yesterday at 12 lbs 14 oz and 23 inches long. His head measured 16 inches. All of these measurements are now in the 75th percentile. He has caught up in weight said the doc. He is healthy and looks good. He did have 2 shots and one oral medication. The second shot was the worst and made him unhappy the rest of the day :( The doc said to give him tylenol for the next two days as needed, but not more. He already seems a little better today :) He got some scooby doo bandaids though!

Virginia Beach Vacation Week

Last week we went to the beach for vacation. It was Matthew's first beach trip! He has done very well in the car and loves being outside, so enjoyed the beach too :) We were very blessed to have a donor offer their home to us down there. It was a beautiful home! Thomas Aaron “Tom” Whitt September 09, 2009

Thomas Aaron “Tom” Whitt, 30, of Wake Forest, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009. He was born in Mecklenburg County. Tom was raised in Gastonia, North Carolina where he graduated from Ashbrook High School.

He furthered his education at North Carolina State University earning a degree in Economics and was recently taking courses in pursuit of a MBA. Tom was a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church, Raleigh and after moving to Wake Forest he was attending Hope Lutheran Church. He was an avid Wolfpack fan, griller, golfer and was devoted to the betterment of his community.

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, September 13, 2009 at Hope Lutheran Church. Burial will be held at 11 o’clock, Monday morning, September 14, 2009 in the Broadway Town Cemetery, Broadway, NC.

Mr. Whitt is survived by his wife of nearly four years, Stephanie Gail Hunter who is expecting their first child in March 2010; Parents Brenda Bowen Whitt & Ray R. Whitt, Jr. of Gastonia; father & mother-in-law, Gerald & Becky Hunter of Matthews; sister-in-law, Erin Hunter of Charlotte; aunt & uncle, Linda & Ed Olson of Easley, SC; two aunts, Mary Johnson and Margaret Whitt both of Easley, SC; cousin, Stephanie Lollis of Greenville, SC and his beloved pet, Lucy. He will also be greatly missed by his Wolfpack tailgating friends and his co-workers at Keystone Consulting Group, where he was employed as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser. Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, Christine & James Bowen and Ruth & Raymond R. Whitt, Sr.

Tom was so excited about the upcoming birth of his baby. The anticipation of this baby was the joy of his life.

Weekend with Poppie and Gigi

So, my Dad & Whittney came into town on Saturday morning. Ryan and I picked them up from the Charlottesville Airport and we had lunch on the corner. Then came home and I got a quick nap while Ryan headed to work for UVA's first home game of the year. My Dad, Whittney, Suzanne, Owen, Matthew and I left for the game. We tailgated for about an hour and then headed in. Matthew was great the whole game. 2nd half we got to go to the suite. Then we headed home after the game and wacthed the rest of the Hokie game at home. Sunday, we were able to sleep in a bit and then Ryan got us Bodo's for breakfast/lunch. That afternoon we tried to get to King Family Vineyard for the rest of the polo match. Suzanne cute Whittney's hair and then we all headed to the Downtown Grille for Dinner. We have been blessed that Matthew has been terrific when we go places :) Monday was then sad as we had to say our goodbyes to Poppie and Gigi. Hopefully we can see them again soon. Update on MRW's 1 Month Appointment

As of today, Matthew weighs, 9 lbs. 4 oz. and is 22 inches long! He is healthy and did very well at his Doctor's visit :)

Today Matthew is 1 MONTH!

We are so excited as today is Matthew's 1 month birthday! He has chunked up a bit and is growing so quickly. See his pictures below :) - the ones of him sleeping, he just fell asleep next to us on the couch :)

MRW - weeks 2 and 3

Matthew has been wonderful. I get about 2.5 hrs of sleep at night between feedings and on a good night sometimes 3. We thank God for such a wonderful baby boy! We have been able to still do our regular routines; errands, Fridays After Five and Ryan's softball games. It just takes a bit longer to get ready, but I am enjoying being home with him every moment! Nothing new yet, but he is slowly becoming stronger especially when it comes to his head. He enjoys belly time too. Below are a few more recent pictures since the last post. Some of Abby too, so hope you all enjoy.

Matthew's Dr's Appointments

How could I forget... On his due date, August 6th, Matthew had a check up to make sure Jaundice was ok and not getting worse. He weighed 6 pounds and 8 oz; which he dropped from birth weight, but did gain from last day in hospital (which was the 4th). Matthew then had his two week check up and he weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces as of Monday the 17th of August, so he gained his birth weight back plus more; we were so happy! He is doing well and is a pretty good boy. Now, that he is at a good weight we can let him sleep and do not have to wake him for feedings. I just nurse him when he says he is hungry. All is going well with us and we love our new bundle of joy!

1st two weeks of August

These last two weeks have been filled with lots of family and friends visiting us along with my birthday and our anniversary. We have been busy and every visitor has been so nice and helpful from providing us with meals and doing laundry etc. Thank you everyone who has helped us out, we really appreciate it. As you can see here are some pictures of what we have done these last few weeks. We try and get Matthew out at least once a day from taking him to dinners, errands or just on a stroll. He has been very good; we have had many more good days than bad :) I love being a mom and enjoying every moment of him!

I must say it is nice to be in our home with just the 3 of us and Abby, trying to figure our our routines.

We hope all our readers are doing well and hopefully those who haven't met Matthew, will meet him soon :)

In Labor YEA!

Water broke at 4:15am and doc said we could come in at 10am, so we slept did a few things around the house and then came into MJH. In mild labor now so, we cannot wait to meet our baby Matthew :) Pictures will hopefully come by at least sometime tomorrow. Could not ask for better nurse or Doc :)

38 weeks & 5 days - Only 9 Days Left!

It is official, we are in the homestretch with only 9 days left. Matthew, when will you come and meet us and see you new room and home??? I wake up every day wondering will this be the day I can meet Matthew and see what he looks like? Well as you can see from a couple pictures below, my belly just keeps sticking out. It really is huge now! As much as I know I will miss being pregnant and him moving around in me, I know I cannot wait to meet him and eventually have my body back. Any guesses of dates, weight etc are welcome.

I know it has been a while since I have posted, but we have not been doing much since we have been hanging around the house awaiting his arrival. I have packed for the hospital and we are just trying to keep the house as clean as possible since we are not sure what will happen next ;) We have run a few errands here and there getting some last minute items needed for him.

I did have a very nice shower put on from my work. We did get some great things from my fabulous co-workers! We have truly been blessed with such wonderful people in our lives. We did get the pack'nplay, jumperoo, a couple outfits, a great book for him, the wonderful Clore handmade rocker for Matthew along with a very nice bib from Alice. Alice made it with Matthew's name on it. Thank you all at Investure!

Last night, we had our tour of Martha Jefferson Hospital Labor and Delivery area. It was nice to see where we will be going and staying for a couple nights. It was a private tour by our friend and neighbor, Suzie, who is a Labor and Delivery Nurse there, hopefully she will be working whenever I have to go in. After the tour, Ryan and I went to a nice dinner at the Melting Pot, thanks to my mom. This was probably our last nice dinner alone before Matthew arrives. We enjoyed ourselves forsure!

This past weekend Friday night Ry and I took it easy and went to bed early. Saturday we went our separate ways. Ry washed the cars and ran some errands while I got my first and probably last Manicure and Pedicure while pregnant with Matthew, thanks to mom, for the pampering funds :) I also went to hear a talk on working moms, part-time moms vs stay-at-home moms; all very interesting. Then came home finished up some laundry and got ready for our photo shoot which we were all in. My good friend Bernie from college is trying to build her portfolio, so she took some pretty amazing maternity pictures; Abby and Ryan were able to get into a few as well! I am happy and lucky to be able to have a friend do something so special for me! I enjoyed it and liked the pictures more than I thought. I am glad I did it and happy to know Matthew can see what his mom looked like one day while pregnant with him. Below is a slideshow of a few of the great shots she got of us.

Sunday, we slept in went to Five Guys with Abby on the Downtown Mall and then took Abby to a park to walk around a very nice paved trail. She enjoyed it and was pooped by the end. It was a nice walk for us and good for Ryan to get out for a bit too especially since his surgery. Then we went to evening church service. We had a pretty nice relaxing weekend overall.

We are coming down to 37 weeks this week with a doc's appointment on Friday, so we will keep you all posted! Oh and how could I forget this week the car-seat was installed in my car along with a few other miscellaneous items. We are super excited!

The even better news is Bernie will be back down when Matthew arrives to get some great newborn shots too!

36 Weeks Today!

Yea, we are 36 Weeks today :) I had my Dr's appointment today and he said I am about 30% effaced and no dilation. So he is moving down, but not down far enough yet. His heart beat is good and everything looks healthy! I am measuring 37cm at 36 weeks, so just 1 cm over, which is not to be concerned. I cannot wait till next weeks appointment hoping for more progression of course. Our next appointment will be next Friday, so hopefully more stats to come :) stay tuned....

The first week home after Ryan's surgery...

On Tuesday, I went into work a little late to try and make sure Ryan was comfortable before I had to leave him. Work did let me leave early that day, so Tuesday, I did come home and helped care for him the rest of the day. He was still in pain the rest of the week. To this day it still hurts him a bit to sneeze, cough and laugh. Since the incision is in his lower abdomen, that affects a lot of his muscles. He is doing much better at getting up and down. Wednesday, the 1st I did work a full day and then Thursday we did get to get out early for the holiday weekend. So all in all I didn't have to leave him for too long.

Thursday night was the first time Ryan actually got out of the house. We went to BabiesRus to pick up our dresser, yes, Ryan only came along for the ride as I think he was getting frustrated about being coupted up. That trip did ware him out as he was tired after that. Thank you to his friends Derik and Andy who picked the dresser up and brought it up to Matthew's room and took it out of the box and placed it where we wanted it in his room. They were a huge help and I know Ryan felt bad and helpless . But we would rather Ryan stay low and be safe so he can recover fully before Matthew arrives.

After the dresser Thursday we just stayed in and Ryan relaxed, while I worked some more on Matthews room most of the weekend and did some laudry. Friday on our day off we slept in, ran some errands and got a few needed things for Matthew plus of course made a Sam's trip. We saw a couple of friends and then came home to cook dinner. Saturday we slept in again; trying to enjoy that as much as possible. We did a few things around the house and then went to Walnut Creek Park to try their beach area off the lake. It is a county park which was very nice. We were impressed and would go back again. Then we headed home showered up and went to a cookout with friends. The food was great, so we ended up having a nice 4th of July. We came home early to Abby and Abby didnt seem to mind the noise of the fireworks which was great. I finished folding all of Matthew's clothes and putting them in their right spot. Each day this week we keep getting a couple more things in for Matthew. We are a month away now and we are so looking forward to his arrival. Sunday the 5th was pretty gloomy so we stayed in, relaxed, napped and did a couple other things, like finishing our thank yous from last weekend.

Now, this finally brings us to today. We are now back in our work routine again. Ryan still has to take it easy so no working out for a while, but it has been nice to have him home and by my side. I enjoyed every moment (even though he was somewhat disabled) with him! I love the time we spend together even when we run errands. He really is such a good hubby and I cannot imagine a better one!

The ER Visit...

Wow, where to begin... We are a little behind as after my last entry we ended up in the ER for Ryan ended up having Appendicitis.

Back to Friday the 26th, Ryan and I left town around 4:30ish and drove down to NC with Abby. At that moment he was telling me his stomach was somewhat achy, but he said he had had the pain before. So of course I said can you please at least be happy and put on a smiley face because we are going to visit your friends for our last shower and last weekend away before Matthew arrives. Well of course I thought it was just a random ache he gets every now and then and thought he was being a baby about it. I knew it was bad and something worse when he couldn't sleep on Friday night. He still insisted that he would get over it and no need to go to the doc. We got him some Alieve and Motrin, which helped the pain a bit, but after our shower on Saturday evening it just continued to get worse. I knew it was getting even worse when he wasn't himself and wouldn't socialize friends; that was not the Ryan I knew and we had to do something about it. He said he just needed to sleep and we could leave early Sunday AM to go to a prompt care in Richmond. Well he couldn't fall asleep again so I insisted we take him to the ER in Henderson, NC. This was the closest hospital to where we were. Funny cause Ryan knew where the hospital was for me just in case, something were to happen for me or Matthew to need to go there. Little did he know he would end up there for two nights. So we arrived in the ER and they took us back pretty much right away. Did many tests and it wasnt until 4am that they said it looks like you will be staying with us, at that time, they finally gave Ryan some meds to releive the pain until he had to go into surgery. At that time is when they told us he did have acute appendicitis from the CT scans. He ended up having surgery around 12:30ish on Sunday and then we had to stay Sunday night. The Hodges were all wonderful to us and very helpful. They brought our bags to us and food to me. Needless to say it was a very long weekend and difficult to sleep in a hospital espcially the first night when all I had was a chair. We ended up not getting home till Monday the 29th in the afternoon. It was nice to be home. I cared for Ryan and tried to be a good nurse. All in all the shower Ryan's friends put on for Matthew was fabulous! Other than Ryan's ER visit which we could not help we could not have asked for a better shower on the lake! A big THANK YOU to all who were able to make it. We always love being at the lake and hopefully next time we see you all we will all be healthy and happy and have a wonderful happy and healthy baby boy, Matthew, with us!

34 Weeks!

This morning I had my 34 week appointment and all was successful. We are on track measured 35 cm at 34 weeks, says that is ok and still normal. Baby Matthew is happy and healthy with a great heart beat! We have found a pediatrician for him which we are really pleased and think she will hopefully be good for Matthew and us. On the plus side, she used our OB to have her son delivered and she has a 2 year old son, which means she is newly on top of things when it comes to baby boys.

So, we are super excited for all the fun things to come! Ryan just put together the crib last night, THANK YOU Mom for Matthews bed! It is very nice and classy, hopefully he will love it too! And, THANK YOU Dad and Whittney, the dresser is in and Ryan will hopefully be picking it up next week and we love the stroller and carseat! It came in this week and Ryan and I played around with it so we could try and be pros at opening and closing it etc. :)

This weekend we have our last shower which we are super excited about, so we will have more pictures and blogging to come!

Once his room is ready which it isnt yet, we will be sure to post some pictures! I cannot wait!

This weekend we have out last shower hosted by the Hodges and Renee at the Hodges' lakehouse. We are so looking forward to our last weekend away before Matthew arrives!

10 Year High School Reunion and Father's Day

Last week I had a pretty normal routine, other than the fact Ryan left on Wednesday for his conference. Then I left Friday to surprise my dad for Father's Day and attend my 10 year high school reunion. Ryan came back Saturday to be with Abby and I just got back late last night. It was a very nice, but quick weekend in Cincinnati; it was great to spend sometime with my dad. My reunion was a better than I anticipated and fun! We had a pretty good showing, about 20 out of 67 in our class showed up. Everyone was so friendly and all grown up. So nice to see all old friends again. To my surprise many didn't even live in OH anymore. People came from Wisconsin, Georgia, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina etc. Of course, I was the only one in there who was pregnant. A few girls from our class reserved the top floor of RP McMurphy's in Hyde Park which was great! Below are a few pictures.



Sunday, for Father's Day, I had lunch with Dad, then we headed to his offices and he was able to do a 3d ultrasound on me. Pretty cool! We did confirm a few times he is definitely a boy :) I cannot wait to meet him, still looks like he has long legs and feet. We were able to confirm he has a head of hair. I cannot wait to see what he looks like when he decides to come out! I am excited about the hair though! He is a shy baby and still was unable to get a great picture of his face. He is head down which is great, but his spine is to my spine, which could cause for a painful labor. Hopefully he will turn to his side or make his spine on my belly. We'll see. He looked so cute in the ultrasound pictures and he likes to suck, he was already sucking lots of what we saw. We were unable to see the video images, but here are some pictures. So, Father's Day turned out great. My dad liked his cards and his little wine aerator gift too!



Other preks of my visit was laying out at the pool, eating Skyline twice, Zips and Graeter's of course! So yummy, I have to say I miss Cincinnati Food sometimes. If you all are interested in trying any you can order from this site http://www.cincinnatifavorites.com/

Baby Shower with my Hokie/Chi-O girls!

I will have pictures soon, but Sunday afternoon I had a GREAT baby shower for Matthew held at Maddie's wonderful home! She had terrific food as usual and it was so nice to see everyone too. Joshua James helped me open Matthew's gifts and he corrected me on a bib vs a burp towel; what was I thinking :) I loved my time there and love when I get to see my girls. Thank you all who were able to make it and those who couldn't be there, you were in our hearts! Thank you all for all the wonderful gifts, we cannot wait for you all to meet Matthew!

Pink Polo Match at King Family Vineyard

Friday night Ryan and I hung low, went to Andy and Suzanne's for an hour or so just to chat a bit.

Saturday, we woke up at a decent time, I left the house around 10:30ish with Erin, Suzanne their two little ones and Sarah. We went to the Pink Polo Match at King Family which benefited Breast Cancer. We were able to get great tickets through Ryan's dealer, Flow, who was a main sponsor and one team was called Flow and the other was called King. We really enjoyed our time. The food was good and the little ones, Owen and Chloe, really seemed to have a good time too! We got to look around at the shops and the other three girls I was with were able to do some wine tasting while I watched over Owen and Chloe. It was my first polo match and I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with all of them! We want to do it again sometime, but bring our hubby's along. This time our hubby's went to two Orioles games in Baltimore, one Saturday and the other Sunday. They seemed to have a good time, but of course we missed them and I think they missed us too! :-) or at least I would like to think so.
