4th of July on the Lake….

Friday morning Ryan and I woke up early to leave our house by 7:30am for the Hodge’s lake house. We didn’t want to get stuck in traffic or road blocks for the Scottsville Parade that day. We got down at a great time. It took us about 2 hrs and 15min or so. When we arrived we were invited to a neighborhood gathering for the 4th. We also got to see new baby Noah, Ashley & Mike Prince’s little one. He is soo adorable too. Skylar loved him! Not too long after the little gathering did we get to go on the boat. My favorite part. Then we grilled out some chicken and pork and watched fire works. Noah was a bit scared, but it was his first time. However, Skylar loved them, she kept saying “good job daddy, more daddy more” – she is so precious.

Saturday it sadly rained the majority of the day, so we just laid low and then Sunday turned out to be so beautiful we were out most of the day before we had to head home.

All in all we had a wonderful weekend – no complaints :)

For the 4th...

Yesterday, Katie came into town early for Kudirka’s wedding on the 4th. When I got home from work, she came over and stayed at our place. Ryan grilled kebobs and we had that with baked potatoes for dinner. We chatted most of the night and then headed to bed. It was so nice to see her and catch up. Today, Jordan flies into town. Kyle will pick her up and she is staying with him. So, tonight we are taking the two of them to dinner on the downtown mall. I look forward to chatting and hanging out with them. Kyle and Jordan get to watch Abby this weekend while Ryan and I go to the Hodge’s lake house. We are really looking forward to our relaxing weekend on the lake! We get to see Skylar and Caffrey along with Prince’s new addition. I cannot wait!

The Maloney’s House, Point of Rocks, MD

Well we had a fabulous trip to visit Dave, Lisa, little Dylan in Lisa’s cute belly and of course Sam & Emma (their Boston Terriers). I got to feel little Dylan move in the womb – he likes to kick his mommy’s ribs. I cannot wait to meet him and hope he can make it to a football game this fall. Friday night we arrived around 8pm or so and sat out on their patio catching up with a few cocktails. We also took a tour of their beautiful home and saw baby Dylan’s room and new things. And before too long I was headed to bed. I don’t know where Lisa gets her energy from; I was falling asleep before her and she has to be awake for two.

Saturday, we woke up around 9ish to a great breakfast cooked by Dave & Lisa. Then we headed to the outlets in Leesburg – about 15 to 20 min from their place. I bought a couple dresses from Gap and Ryan bought 2 nice polos and a belt. Lisa and Dave of course bought a few very cute baby boy outfits for Dyaln. Then we headed to a very nice winery still in VA called Tarara (http://www.tarara.com/). It was huge and their wine was very good. After the tasting we headed to lunch at some Mexican joint; it was very good too with the best cheese dip for the chips. From there we headed to a brewery called Flying Dog (http://www.flyingdogales.com/), it moved to MD from CO. They actually brew the beer there, so we got to tour the facility. We took some pictures too. Around dinner time we headed to see the Frederick Keys, a minor league team, play baseball (http://www.frederickkeys.com/). Dave and Lisa got us great seats! It was fun and we were able to be there for a few innings (most of the game) before it down poured and they stopped the game. We enjoyed ourselves there. It was a nice family friendly ball park.

Sunday, Ryan and I woke up to another wonderful breakfast and then we got ready and chatted some packed up and headed to lunch with Dave & Lisa. We ate at this cute South Street Under lunch place in downtown Leesburg. Then we had to say our goodbyes. They next time we see them, God willing we will be meeting sweet little Dylan. We are very excited.

How could I forget last weekend!

Sara’s Courtland & Franklin Shower!!! Maddie met at my place and then I drove her and we left after I got home from work to head to a bed and breakfast in Franklin, VA. The Pace House Inn is where Sara’s parents put us up in an awesome room. Check out their website http://www.thepacehouseinn.com/ Friday evening Sara had a larger party for her a Chris hosted by some family friends.
Saturday morning we had a great brunch at the Pace House Inn. After Brunch we headed on a tour of where Sara grew up. It is so nice and quaint around there. Later that evening we went to a shower for Sara and Chris. The theme was margaritaville. We had a blast and the land was beautiful. It was held at a family friend’s pool house on their plantation. Everything was amazing. I can truly say I enjoyed every moment. I think Maddie had a good time as well *wink*

Sunday morning came quickly and we packed up and went to lunch at Sara’s parent’s house. And a couple hours later we headed home.

Like I said before it was a very nice weekend. The pictures should be coming soon. I am waiting to get copies from Sara or her sister-in-law to be. I forgot my camera, silly me.

We were delighted to be invited by one our neighbors aslo a book/wine club girl, Sarah, to her families Rivah house near the Tapahanock River. It was another beautiful weekend and we had a blast! I thank God everyday for all of the fabulous friends we have and have made even since we’ve been married. Life is truly such a beautiful blessing!

As I said before we are enjoying every moment for sure!

This weekend, We are actually going to visit Dave and Lisa. I cannot wait to see how they are doing in their new place in MD. And how the baby boy has come along in her belly. I am looking forward to hanging out with them too! Hopefully I will have some pictures to post after this weekend. I will too try and be a bit better at updating our blog.

New Job

My Job… I have been here now for over a month. Wow how time flies. It has been more than a wonderful experience. I have enjoyed every moment and love my bosses. Everyone here is so nice to work with. I do many tasks from stocking the fridge, buying groceries, straightening the living area, keeping the kitchen clean to personal and adminitstrative work for my bosses. My favorite I think is planning/booking their travels whether for personal or buisness. All is going well thus far! Keep me in your prayers as my ninety day review is not until our wedding Anniversary, August 11th! Jury Duty

Well now something new to add to the excitement of my life is Jury Duty. I have been summons to Jury Duty at random. I guess it is my time to serve. I have 9 dates in the beginning of the summer quarter which I may have to serve. I did serve the 1st one which was interesting. It reminded me slightly of Virginia Tech Honor Court. I have now been lucky to have the next two cancel which means the case has settled prior to the date. Now, I have 3 dates next week and I will have to wait and see if I end up having to serve or not. Bad thing is I don’t usually know till last minute. It has been a great experience thus far though.

Volunteering Update

Volunteering has also filled my time. I am enjoying helping out the women’s place every now and then. I try my best to go twice a week, some weeks like next I will only be able to help Monday. I love to see all the babies and just help the department when they need it. I have come across a few people I know which has been exciting as well! I have also learned to work the Baby Prints and take photos of the new borns for the mom to be able to share online or purchase if she wishes. The experience has been wonderful. Later I may want to mix it up and train in the children’s area, so I can see more kids. We’ll see.

Book Club Update...

April Book Club – We selected the book, Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I totally thought this book wouldn’t be for me, but I was wrong. I became totally addicted! Stephanie Meyer is a great writer and Twilight has been a great read! The movie comes out on 12.12.08, so our book club has reserved the date for all of us to go see it then! We cannot wait. May Book Club – We selected the book Love the One You’re with by Emily Griffin. This book has too been a nice read. http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html I must say my favorite books have been January’s, April & May’s thus far!

June Book Club – Since a few of our girls are like me somewhat slower at finishing the books, we are not meeting again to discuss the books until August. We are taking July off, plus for those of us who are traveling. I need to catch up on my reading plus I need to buy and begin to read these next two books: Escape by Caroline Jessop and then Case Histories by Kate Atkinson.

Wine and Book Club has been a blast for me thus far. I have made so many great friends and gotten to know our neighborhood ever better. It has allowed Ryan and I to expand our friend which has been so nice to change who you go out with ever now and then. For example tonight we are going to dinner with three other neighborhood couples.

Also, some of us book club girls hang out when our hubbies leave town, or just go to Siips for a glass of wine or even walk our dogs.

I think we both have definitely enjoyed our year thus far living at Cherry Hill.

Well, it has been quite sometime now since I have updated our blog. I apologize, for those who were missing reading up on our lives. Some things have changed and I have been very busy with my new job, volunteering, Jury Duty, Book Club and just socializing. I’m definitely loving life at this time.
